The State Unitary Enterprise «Directorate for NPP Construction» under the Uzatom Agency (hereinafter referred to as the NPP Directorate) was established in accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated February 6, 2019 No. 102 "On measures to ensure the efficiency of design and construction work in the field of nuclear energy» as a single customer for the construction projects of NPP on the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan, with the empowerment of the operating organization.

The main tasks and activities of the NPP Directorate are:

1.      Organization and implementation of engineering and survey work for the selection of a site for the placement of NPP (within the framework of the implementation of the task, Contract No. UZB_SSTD_20190516 of May 16, 2019 was concluded with JSC Atomstroyexport for the implementation of engineering surveys at the construction site of NPP for the development of a technical design for NPP in the Republic of Uzbekistan and work is underway in the following areas:

  • engineering and geodetic surveys;

  • engineering and geological surveys;

  • seismotectonic and seismological observations;

  • engineering and hydrometeorological surveys;

  • engineering and environmental surveys;

  • engineering surveys related to considering the external influences of a technogenic nature;

  • studies related to the assessment of the possibility of using local and ground building materials);

2.      Participation in the development and approval of a general contract for the construction and conclusion of subsequent contracts for the life cycle of NPP, as well as contracts for the construction of its external infrastructure;

3.      Organization of the development of design and estimate documentation for NPP facilities and its external infrastructure and approval by the authorized examination bodies;

4.      In agreement with the Uzatom Agency, the organization and coordination of contract construction, installation and other works at the facilities of NPP and external infrastructure;

5.      Development of technical specifications and documentation for the purchase of equipment, works and services within the framework of the project for the construction of NPP on the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan and its external infrastructure;

6.      Participation in the process of studying, analyzing and preparing proposals for the choice of design solutions, technological schemes, security systems, physical protection, main and auxiliary equipment;

7.      Control over the quality of work performed within the framework of the project, and their acceptance in the areas of nuclear technology, geodesy, geological exploration, seismotectonic and environmental work;

8.      Participation in the development of regulatory documents in the field of atomic energy use, ensuring nuclear and radiation safety, handling nuclear materials and radioactive substances;

9.      Coordination of work with foreign consultants involved in the implementation of the project.
