Cosmic radiation
The entire surface of the Earth is exposed to radiation, but the radiation is distributed unevenly. The intensity of cosmic radiation depends on solar activity, geographic location, and it also increases with height above sea level. With an increase in altitude, the irradiation increases (when rising from an altitude of 4000 m to 12000 m, the level of irradiation due to cosmic rays increases by about 25 times and continues to grow with a further increase in altitude to 20,000 m). Nevertheless, there is no reason to be afraid of flights or trips to areas with an increased natural background (the doses received are very small, so even pilots and climbers cannot receive a dose of radiation that is dangerous to health).
